Payment can be made by Paypal or cheque in advance, or cash on the day.
Stretham to Ely Return
Cruising time from Stretham to Ely is under two hours so this leaves plenty of time for stop offs en route or sight seeing in Ely. Market days are Thursdays and Saturdays. If preferred, pick up can be arranged from Ely where ample free parking is available. There are no locks on this stretch of the river. For more information on Ely check out http://visitely.eastcambs.gov.uk/
Stretham to Waterbeach Return
Cruising time from Stretham to Waterbeach is around three hours so less time is available on this route for fishing or bird watching (however one stretch on this route does provide good opportunities for sighting harriers. The route also includes the "Five Mile from Anywhere" pub which is a good place to stop for lunch. From here it is a one mile walk to the stunning Wicken Fen, the National Trust's oldest nature reserve http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/wicken-fen/
Cambridge city centre is only 5 minute by train from Waterbeach staion http://www.visitcambridge.org/
Customised
Anything is possible! Feel free to contact John and discuss any option for your trip. The above examples are based on return trips. Clearly, much more ground can be covered on a one way trip with returns being undertaken by private or public transport. For example, a one way trip to St Ives would take 5-6 hours including passage through 3 locks, a tidal stretch (with seals) and several excellent riverside pubs and restaurants. St Ives itself is well worth an overnight stop with a vibrant market and a host of pubs and restaurants http://saintives.org.uk/
